Waterford FC Academy BSC Awards 2025

The Waterford F.C Academy Blues Supporters Club Awards were held in the S.E.T.U Arena on Saturday 29th November. There was a great attendance from Academy players, parents, relatives, Blues supporters and coaching staff. A list of the award winners can be seen below. The BSC Committee would like to thank everyone who made this enjoyable afternoon possible including the award sponsors, Academy Director Mike Geoghegan, M.C. Adrian Flanagan and the staff of the S.E.T.U Arena. Well done to all award winners and players nominated on an excellent season for the Blues!

Billy Hearne International Recognition Award sponsored by the BSC

These awards were presented to the players of the Waterford FC Academy who were capped at international level this year. These new awards are named after former Waterford FC Senior Team and Academy coach Billy Hearne. They were presented by Billy’s Wife Joan to the players who could be present.

Award Winners: Billy Carney (U15 v Spain), Temmy Gazal (U15 v Australia Schools), Jack Barden (U15 v Spain), Nathan Power (U15 V Spain), Cormac Lowry (U16 v Poland), Muhammad Oladiti ( U19 v Kazakhstan), Zak O’Sullivan (U19 v Kazakhstan and Cyprus)

Under 15 Boys Eoin Burke Memorial Player of the Year sponsored by the Burke Family (Presented by Deirdre and Craig Burke)

Under 17 Boys Player of the Year sponsored by Paul & Darren O’Neill (Presented on their behalf by Shane Murphy)

2025 WFC Academy Overall Women’s Player of the Year sponsored by Maurice McGuire 

Winner: Meadbh Doherty (Not present, presented to U19 Manager Jess Lawton on her behalf)

The BSC Committee made presentations to Mike and Sean Geoghegan who are stepping down from their roles in the Waterford FC Academy after several years of great work. Best of luck to Mike and Sean in the future and a massive thank you from the Waterford FC family for all their work developing young players over the years.

The Waterford FC Academy is the backbone of our club. The BSC is delighted to help in developing young talent like this. One of the BSC’s main goals is to do all we can to help the Academy in any way we can. Thank you to all our members who’s continued support makes awards like this possible. Mon Blues!
